This email, which appears to have been sent by Google Photos, claims that new photos have been added to your album.
Clicking a button in the email supposedly allows you to view your albums.
However, Google did not send the email and clicking does not open your Google Photos account.
Instead, the links in the email open one of a number of scam websites that try to trick you into submitting your name and contact details via a site registration form. Supposedly, by registering on the site, you can get a chance to win prizes or receive free products or offers.
However, all of the information you provide will be shared with dodgy marketing companies who will later flood you with unwanted promotional phone calls, text messages, and emails touting a variety of suspect products and services.In some cases, the sites may offer a “free” product but ask you to supply your credit card details, ostensibly to cover a small delivery fee.
Companies and services that try to promote themselves by sending out deceptive emails like the one below should not be trusted with any of your personal or financial information.
Note also that scam emails similar to the one discussed here are often used to trick people into entering their email account login details on a fake website.
If you receive one of these bogus Google Photo emails, just delete it. It is always safer to access your online accounts by entering the address into your browser or via a trusted app.
