Save-A-Lot Free $275 Grocery Coupon Giveaway Scam

by Brett M. Christensen

Outline:
Circulating Facebook post claims that American discount supermarket chain Save-A-Lot is giving away coupons worth $275 to everyone on its anniversary.

Analysis:
The post is fraudulent and it is not associated with Save-A-Lot in any way. Those who click the link to participate will never receive the promised coupon.

The post is just one in a seemingly endless series of almost identical Facebook scams that falsely claim that various stores are giving everyone “anniversary” coupons.  These posts are designed to trick you into first spamming your friends with the same fake giveaway and then supplying your personal information on scam survey websites.

Save-A-Lot has confirmed that the post is a scam via comments on its official Facebook Page.
