Circulating message claims that the mayor of Dorval, a city in Quebec Canada, refused to bow to Muslim demands to remove pork from local school canteen menus and explained his decision in a strident note sent to parents in the area.
The message is a hoax. The Dorval mayor did not write the words attributed to him and made no such comments. A news release on the Dorval City website denounced the message as false. The hoax is an altered version of an earlier piece that claimed that the mayor of a Belgium municipality refused Muslim demands to remove pork from school canteens. The original Belgium version was also a hoax.
Let’s hear it for a Quebec mayor…This guy has it right!
Or as the commercial promoting pork says “put some pork on your fork”
WAY TO GO QUEBEC…….
MAYOR REFUSES TO REMOVE PORK FROM SCHOOL CANTEEN MENU…EXPLAINS WHY
Muslim parents demanded the abolition of pork in all the school canteens of a Montreal suburb.
The mayor of the Montreal suburb of Dorval, has refused, and the town clerk sent a note to all parents to explain why…
“Muslims must understand that they have to adapt to Canada and Quebec, its customs, its traditions, its way of life, because that’s where they chose to immigrate. They must understand that they have to integrate and learn to live in Quebec.
They must understand that it is for them to change their lifestyle, not the Canadians who so generously welcomed them.
They must understand that Canadians are neither racist nor xenophobic, they accepted many immigrants before Muslims (where as the reverse is not true, in that Muslim states do not accept non-Muslim immigrants). That no more than other nations, Canadians are not willing to give up their identity, their culture.
And if Canada is a land of welcome, it’s not the Mayor of Dorval who welcomes foreigners, but the Canadian-Quebecois people as a whole.
Finally, they must understand that in Canada (Quebec) with its Judeo-Christian roots, Christmas trees, churches and religious festivals, religion must remain in the private domain. The municipality of Dorval was right to refuse any concessions to Islam and Sharia.
For Muslims who disagree with secularism and do not feel comfortable in Canada, there are 57 beautiful Muslim countries in the world, most of them under-populated and ready to receive them with open arms in accordance with Shariah. If you left your country for Canada, and not for other Muslim countries, it is because you have considered that life is better in Canada than elsewhere.
Ask yourself the question, just once, “Why is it better here in Canada than where you come from?”
A canteen with pork is part of the answer.

Message Claims Dorval Mayor Refused Muslim Demands to Remove Pork From Schools
According to a message that has been circulating via social media and email for since 2015, the mayor of Dorval, a city in Quebec, Canada refused to give in to demands from local Muslims that pork should be removed from school menus in the district.
Supposedly, the mayor explained the reasons for his refusal via a note sent to local parents by the town clerk. The note states that Muslims in the area need to ‘adapt to Canada and Quebec, its customs, its traditions, its way of life, because that’s where they chose to immigrate’. It also pointedly suggests that, for Muslims who do not feel comfortable in Canada, ‘there are 57 beautiful Muslim countries in the world’ ready to receive them.
The mayor’s supposed stance has been applauded by commentators from around the world, with many criticising their own leaders for not adopting a similar policy. The mayor’s office received calls from across North America congratulating the mayor for his stance on the issue.
Message is a Hoax – Dorval Mayor Made No Such Statement
However, the message is a hoax. The mayor of Dorval did not make the comments attributed to him and has publicly denied the claims in the message via a press release on the city’s website. The press release notes:
The City of Dorval Denounces False News Circulating on the Internet
Dorval, January 27, 2015 – For a number of weeks now, false news has been circulating on social networks, as well as via a string of emails, about the Mayor of Dorval having allegedly refused to follow up on a request from Muslim parents asking him to remove pork from the City’s school cafeterias. The story also quotes speculative comments from the Mayor in regards to Muslims.
The City of Dorval wishes to denounce this false article and resents this identity usurpation. Internet users across the world have published this false news as it was true, and the Mayor would like to set the record straight by saying that, on no account, he, nor any the City’s representatives, have made such comments.
Derived From an Earlier Hoax Set in Belgium
In fact, the message is just an altered version of an earlier hoax message set in Belgium.
The original hoax claimed that Marc Duvivier, the mayor of the Belgium municipality of Ath, was the one who refused to comply with Muslim demands to remove pork from school canteens. Again, the mayor supposedly sent a letter to parents explaining his decision.
However, the original version was just as untrue as its Canadian mutation. Marc Duvivier never made the comments attributed to him, no such letter was sent to parents, and the municipality never received any requests to remove pork from school canteens in the first place.
Thus it seems some person with an axe to grind has simply adapted the original hoax to suit a Canadian audience and relaunched it anew.
Both versions of the message contain outright lies and deliberately and unfairly misquote people to suit the agenda of their authors. Spreading false information is not an ethical method of promoting a political viewpoint and, ultimately, will backfire when its instigator is exposed as a liar.
If you receive this false message, please do not spread it further. And please take the time to let the sender know that the message is a hoax.
