Some scam attempts are just so silly and transparently fraudulent, that they are almost amusing.
Like this one:
Delivered as a “Party Invite” via Google Forms and complete with a paragraph of “lorum ipsum” place-holding text, the email claims that EVERY citizen of the world is eligible to receive a Financial Incentive of $1.5 million courtesy of SunTrust bank.
The email, which has the subject line “Your Covid-19 Fund Benefit” claims that the money is to encourage more people to stay at home as directed by the CDC.
Of course, the email is an attempt to trick people into sending their money and personal information to criminals. It hardly needs to be said the email is not from SunTrust and that no money is being given away.
The email is a typical advance fee scam, albeit a very poorly executed one.
