Chick-fil-A “Free $50 Coupon” Facebook Scam

Outline:
Facebook post claims that you can click to receive a free coupon valued at $50 from American fast food restaurant chain Chick-fil-A. Supposedly, the company is giving EVERYONE a free coupon to celebrate its anniversary.

Analysis:
The post is fraudulent. It is not associated with Chick-fil-A in any way and the coupon is not valid at Chick-fil-A stores. Those tricked into participating will never receive the promised coupon.

Chick-fil-A has confirmed that the post is a scam via comments on its official Facebook Page.

In fact, the post is a typical Facebook scam designed to trick you into first spamming your friends with the same fake giveaway and then supplying your personal information on scam survey websites.

This video from the Hoax-Slayer YouTube Channel discusses another survey scam attempt that promises participants the chance to win a Range Rover rather than store coupons. Although the – non-existent – prizes offered as bait are very different, the underlying scam is the same.
